This updated and expanded edition of Porsche Sounds adds 20 new pages and more than 100 photographs.  It brings the Porsche story up to date with text and images covering newer cars such as the 918 Spyder hybrid, the Macan compact SUV, and the 919 Hybrid prototype that brought Porsche its 17th Le Mans victory in 2015.

Written by Porsche Museum director Dieter Landenberger and Jurgen Gassebner, Porsche Sounds reviews the German marque’s history and motorsports achievements, from the early years of founder Ferdinand Porsche through the present day.  With text in German and English, the book’s chapters address major cars and eras in Porsche history, such as the launch of the Porsche 356 in 1948 and its successor, the enduring Porsche 911, in 1964.  Special emphasis is given to 20 cars whose engine sounds are recorded on a compact disc packaged inside the book’s front cover.  These include the very first 356 Roadster, the 1962 804 Formula One car, the 1969 12-cylinder 917 prototype, the 1974 911 Turbo, and the 2004 911 Carrera S.  Porsche Sounds takes readers on a stunning audiovisual tour through more than seven decades of success on the road and at the track.

“When it comes to the sound a Porsche’s flat-six engine makes, words can’t do it justice ... Knowing this, Porsche Sounds includes a CD with 30 recordings of storied Porsches to accompany the visual history in a lush coffee-table format.”

—Road & Track

“Beautiful graphics, high quality paper and a linen cover make this a joy to pick up and peruse.”
