Jim Clark: Racing Hero Jim Clark: Racing Hero
Nearly half a century after his death, Scotland’s Jim Clark is still considered one of the greatest drivers in the history of motor racing. Driving for the innovative Lotus team, Clark won the Formula One world championship in 1963 and 1965, as well as the 1965 Indianapolis 500. Originally published in Germany, this extra-large, 400-page book uses hundreds of vivid and rarely- seen photographs to tell Clark’s story in a new way, through 64 thematic chapters arranged in alphabetical order. The subjects include the cars, circuits, and individual races that were most important to Clark’s career, as well as lesser-known events, people, and places that had an impact on the Scottish driver’s life on and away from the racetrack. read more >

The brilliant images are backed up with authoritative text in English and German. The author is Graham Gauld, who knew Jim Clark personally and helped produce his autobiography in 1964. Returning to his original notes, photographs and recordings, Gauld explores Clark’s career from his early years driving sports cars for Scotland’s Border Reivers team through his triumphs— and near-misses—with Team Lotus. Each Lotus car driven by Clark receives its own chapter, as do other models from Ford, Ferrari, Jaguar, and Porsche. Teammates, rivals and friends are also profiled, among them Lotus founder Colin Chapman, fellow Scottish champion Jackie Stewart, and Lotus drivers Graham Hill and Innes Ireland. The book also includes seldom-seen images of Clark at home on his farm in Scotland and performing promotional duties that range from judging a beauty contest to driving a milk truck. And it concludes with a complete appendix listing all of Clark’s races and results from 1955 through 1968.

Jim Clark: Racing Hero is a full-color, 12” x 12” deluxe hardcover presented in a green slipcase with yellow highlights that recall the Team Lotus livery of the 1960s. David Bull Publishing is proud to partner with Germany’s McKlein Publishing to market this unique and beautiful book. Text in English and German.
